Merchants Bancorp. in Hillsboro, Ohio, will combine the roles of president and CEO.

Pence, who served as president from 1981 to 2014, will succeed Jim Evans.

The company said that Denise Fauber, vice president of branch administration and director of human resources, will become chief operating officer, also succeeding Evans..

Evans joined the bank in 1987.

“Much of the bank’s success over the last three decades can be attributed to Jim and his leadership, which will be greatly missed,” Pence said in the release. “However, the bank is well-positioned with a strong senior management team.”
