Western Bankers Association looking for new CEO

The Western Bankers Association is looking for a new leader.

The association announced that Stephen Andrews will resign as its president and CEO, effective at the end of this month. Andrews, who is also stepping down as the leader of the California Bankers Association, has held his posts since May 2019.

The WBA said that Kevin Gould, director of government relations, and Yvette Ernst, chief of staff and corporate secretary, will oversee day-to-day operations while it looks for a new president and CEO.

Gould joined the WBA and CBA in 2004. Ernst has been with the association since 1991.

“On behalf of our entire board, I thank Steve for his leadership and wish him all the best,” George Leis, president and chief operating officer of Montecito Bank & Trust and the WBA/CBA’s chairman, said in an email.

“Our board looks at this moment as an opportunity to recruit a dynamic leader with the vision to take Western Bankers/California Bankers Association to the next level of performance on behalf of its many constituents,” Leis added.
