Mid Penn in Pennsylvania adds Gregory Braca to its board

Mid Penn Bancorp in Pennsylvania is adding a familiar name in area banking to its board.

The $7 billion-asset company said in a press release that  Gregory Braca will join its board on Sept. 16

Braca led TD Bank’s U.S. retail, commercial, and specialty banking operations as president and CEO of the $400 billion-asset institution. He currently chairs Ironlight, a tokenized real-world-asset exchange, sits on the board of Intellicheck, and advises Star Mountain Capital and Myota.

Braca’s name may be familiar to close observers of the industry: he was part of an investor group — alongside George Norcross III and Philip Norcross — that clashed publicly with Republic First Bancorp’s leadership before the Philadelphia bank’s April 2024 failure.

An FDIC material loss review found that management turmoil and boardroom dysfunction, dating back to founder Vernon Hill’s tenure, left examiners struggling to get a clear picture of the bank’s financial condition and capital plans.

Republic First was ultimately closed by regulators, with its deposits and assets sold to Fulton Bank.
