Mercantile Bank in Mich. lines up next CEO

Mercantile Bank Corp. in Grand Rapids, Mich., is set to have a new CEO.

The $5.2 billion-asset company said in a press release that Raymond Reitsma will also become its president on June 1. Reitsma, Mercantile’s, chief operating officer, will succeed Robert Kaminski, who is retiring.

Kaminski will remain on the company’s board.

“The management succession process is an ongoing responsibility which is very important to our board, and reflects many years of thoughtful consideration about the future leadership of our company,” Kaminski said in the release.

“Ray has been with Mercantile for more than 20 years, maintaining key leadership roles, including the last seven as president of our” bank, Kaminski added. “We have complete confidence that Mercantile, with Ray at the helm … will continue fulfilling the role of trusted partner for our clients and the communities we serve.”
