Eastern in Boston taps banking veteran to join its board

Eastern Bankshares in Boston has appointed a banking veteran to its board.

The $21 billion-asset company said in a press release that Marisa Harney had become a director and will join its audit and risk management committees on Jan. 1.

Harney recently served as chief credit officer at First Citizens BancShares in Raleigh, N.C. Before that, she was chief credit officerat CIT Group, which sold to First Citizens in January 2022.

Eastern also added Linda Williams, chief risk and audit officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, to the board.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Marisa Harney and Linda Williams to our board,” Bob Rivers, Eastern’s chairman and CEO, said in the release. “They are highly respected risk management and audit leaders, and offer a variety and depth of experience.”
