INSIGHTS INTO THE BANKING INDUSTRY

U.S. Bancorp invests in tokenized assets startup

U.S. Bancorp in Minneapolis has invested in Ownera, a fintech that works with tokenized assets.

Ownera said in a press release that the $675 billion-asset U.S. Bancorp participated in the fintech’s Series A investment round. The amount of the investment wasn’t disclosed.

Ownera is working to digitize paper-heavy and illiquid private markets for banks, asset managers and exchanges.

“This investment will allow us to play an important role in shaping the future of capital markets, one where issuers and institutional investors have more real-time visibility into assets and can more efficiently transfer ownership and settle transactions,” Jim Kelligrew, U.S. Bancorp’s vice chair and head of corporate and commercial banking, said in the release.

“Our goal is to provide our capital markets clients a more streamlined experience, helping them save time and money, all while experiencing unprecedented transparency,” Kelligrew added.
