Currency Bank in La. raises more capital

Currency Bank in Baton Rouge, La., has raised more capital.

The $124 million-asset bank said in a press release that it brought in $4 million.

Axxess Partners, the bank’s holding company, raised roughly $26 million in May 2021, around the time that it acquired Commerce Community Bank and rebranded it as Currency.

Currency said in a LinkedIn post that the capital will “further bolster” its “strong capital position.”

“We decided the model of acquiring an existing community bank, and growing its already healthy balance sheet, provided us a solid nucleus where we could continue serving all of the customers where the bank has existed since 1999, as well as introduce a concierge business bank to Baton Rouge,” Robert Daigrepont, Currency’s chairman, said in the release.
