INSIGHTS INTO THE BANKING INDUSTRY

Comerica opens offices in Georgia, South Carolina

Comerica in Dallas has opened its first offices in Georgia and South Carolina.

The $84 billion-asset company said in a press release that the move is part of its 2021 initiative to form a Southeast market. The effort includes commercial banking offices in the South Carolina cities of Columbia and Greenville and a private banking office in Atlanta.

“We are excited to introduce Comerica’s relationship banking approach and long history of serving its customers to South Carolina and Georgia,” Jerry Bowen, Comerica’s Southeast market president, said in the release.

“Since the creation of the Southeast market, we have made significant investments in hiring experienced bankers and establishing offices that has allowed us to strengthen our presence and foster opportunities for future growth,” Bowen added.

North Carolina has been Comerica’s hub for expansion across the Southeast. The company opened its first office in Raleigh, N.C., in July, followed by a Charlotte location in August.

Comerica, which has 28 employees in North Carolina, will open a Winston-Salem, N.C., office next year.
