Evolve Bank in Arkansas hires outsider as next CEO

Evolve Bank & Trust in West Memphis, Ark., has a new leader.

The bank said that it hired Bob Hartheimer, a senior advisor at consulting firm Klaros Group, to become its CEO.

Hartheimer, a director at CardWorks, also has experience at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and Promontory Financial Group.

The hiring “marks a turning point for Evolve,” Chairman Steve Valentine said in the release. Hartheimer “was selected for his unmatched corporate experience in strategically navigating challenges at financial institutions and enabling banks to move past their regulatory challenges.”

Mark Mosteller, the bank’s president and chief financial officer; Hank Ward, president of the open banking division; and Joelle Weltzin, general counsel and corporate secretary, will remain in their roles and report to Hartheimer.

Evolve has been dealing with the fallout of dealings with fintechs, including the collapsed middleware provider Synapse.
