The Mission Driven Bank Fund has again invested in American Bancorp in Macon, Ga.
The fund did not disclose the amount it invested in American, the holding company for the $1 billion-asset minority-deposit institution American Pride Bank.
“MDBF believed in us from the start, and this follow-on investment, together with the technical services grant that is helping us explore AI safely and soundly, builds on that early commitment,” Dominik Mjartan, American Bancorp’s CEO, said in a press release. “The capital accelerates our strategy to become the preeminent bank for underestimated entrepreneurs across the Southeast’s fastest-growing markets. In an era defined by consolidation and volatility, that kind of partnership has never mattered more.”
The fund initially invested in American in March 2025.
“The fund’s initial investment … occurred shortly after it secured its MDI designation through the vision of the new management team,” Paul Welch, the fund’s portfolio manager, said. “We are pleased to continue our support of the bank as it expands both its branch and product footprint to better serve its communities.”
Elizabeth Park Capital Management and Calvert Impact are members of the fund’s general partner. Strategic Value Bank Partners is a sub-advisor, and Performance Trust is a capital advisor and structuring agent for the fund.
