Is Brian Moynihan setting the stage for naming a successor at Bank of America?
Moynihan, the Charlotte, N.C., company’s chairman and CEO, said in a press release that Dean Athanasia and Jim DeMare had been named co-presidents. Athnasia was president of regional banking, while DeMare was president of global markets.
Alastair Bothwick, the company’s chief financial officer, was elevated to executive vice president.
Moynihan, who has led BofA since 2010, made it clear that he plans to remain CEO through the rest of this decade.
Bank of America also said that Alastair Borthwick had become CFO.
“These leadership appointments will drive our efforts to build and deliver Bank of America’s capabilities across the globe,” Moynihan said in the release.
Bothwick and Athnasia “have designed and driven out full transformations of the businesses under their direct leadership to focus on our clients and their needs; align resources, capabilities, and intensity; compete and gain market share; and deliver long-term, industry-leading results,” Moynihan added.
